All Saints’ Children’s Home

The monthly meeting of the ladies’ committee of All Saints’ Children’s Home was held on Thursday, March 2. In the absence of Canon G. Y. Woodward, Mrs. A. E. Mansford presided and there was a good attendance. It was decided that members of the house committee should visit the Brown House, Kahuterawa Valley, in the near future to arrange for the necessary additions to the furnishings. Matron’s report stated that the health of the children was good. There had been two children discharged and one admitted during the month. This year there were seven Brownies, seven Cubs and two Guides. The older children were attending the Lenten services. Produce from harvest festivals was arriving slowly and the supply of vegetables greatly improved. The Commercial Travellers had given all the children a marvellous picnic at Foxton, which everyone had greatly enjoyed. The children were all taicen in cars and everything possible for their enjoyment was provided. The matron acanowledged with thanks gifts from the following;—|Mr. D. C. T. Londos, Kiniboiton, peas; Mrs. Merton, dripping; Mr. Olsen, clothes; A.N.A. Club, bread; Mrs. Hamlin, peas; Mrs. Clark, jam; Agricultural Department, tomatoes, cabbage plants; Mr. Whitcoinbe, peas; Mr. Kiimister, peas; Mr. Paddy, meat; Manawatu Meat Co., meat and sausages; Mr. Pratt, hairdressing; Mr. Rush, firewood; Mrs. Purdy, clothes; Miss May, jacket; Mrs. Borreson, tomatoes; Anon., clothes and shoes; Miss Robson, dripping; P.D.C., cakes, sandwiches and savouries; proceeds of harvest festivals from HolyTrinity, Utiku, Rangiwahia, Mangaweka.
