Cpl. M. S. Cross was a serviceman who received the Feilding Patriotic Society’s presentation at the Borough Council Chambers yesterday. The rainfall in Feilding overnight Thursday to U o'clock yesterday morning measured . .1)1 ins. Yesterday further rain fell throughout the day at intermittent intervals. Owing to the hall not being available it has been necessary to later arrangements in connection with the civic reception in Feilding to men of the furlough party. This will now be held on Tuesday, March 14, and details will be advertised later. Ladies of the Colyton Patriotic commitee conducted the patriotic shop in Feilding yesterday and the excellent sum of £62 was raised. Those who patronised the shop and made donations of goods are thanked for their co-oper-ation. rue Methodists in Feilding have arranged for a garden party this afternoon in the grounds of the residence of Mr. M. Henson, “Te Kowhai," South Street. Should any rain fall during the morning, the function will be held in the Sunday School, Grey Street. There will be many attractions, and proceeds will be used for local church purposes. it was learned in Feilding yesterday that letters inviting them to serve in coal mines in lieu of military service had been received by reservists on leave without pay. One such letter was received by a farmer who has had several sine die adjournments of his case by the Armed Forces Appeal Board because of his farming activities.
