Magistrate’s Court

Te Waru Kopa, a Maori youth of 18 years of age, appeared before Air. H. P. Lawry, 8.M., in the Pahiatua Magistrates Court on four charges, viz.: Being a rogue and a vagabond in that he was unlawfully found on the premises of Mr. J. D. O’Brien on March 1; theft on March I of a brief bag containing motor car tools and two ignition keys of a total value of £2 ss, the property of Mr. J. G. Brechin; theft of: a pair of men’s khaki working trousers

valued at £l, the property of Mr. G. A. Wadejfailure to comply with the terms of his release from a Borstal Institution. Kopa entered a plea of guilty on all charges. He admitted that he was not without money and two weeks’pay were due to him in a few days. On the charges of theft, ho was convicted and sentenced to two years’ detention in the Borstal Institute, Invercargill, and convicted on the other two charges.
