Southern H.B. Rabbit Board

The monthly meeting of the Southern Ilawke’s Bay Rabbit Board was held recently, Mr. E. D. Cattanach presiding in the absence of Mr. McLeod who was indisposed. Members expressed their regret at the chairman’s illness and wished him a speedy recovery. The secretary reported that approximately £464 in rates was outstanding and notices had been sent to all those in arrears notifying them of the amount due and the imposition of the ten per cent penalty on rates unpaid after the Isth March. He anticipated that most of the rates would be paid by the penalty date and the year -would end up with a credit balance. It was decided to convert the Board’s holding of 1943-46 Government Stock into the new loan

maturing 1900-63. The foreman reported that during the month a total of 876 rabbits had been destroyed. Every effort was being made to fill the vacaiiey in the coast area.
