Woodville R.S.A.
President D. Keay, Secretary F. Mackie and Messrs. W. Galbraith, T. Schaw, W. Brotherstone, J. Gayford, R. Coleman, K. May, J. Charles and C. Ware attended the last meeting of the present R.S.A. committee on Wednesday night last. The next meeting, to be held on Monday, April 17, will be the annual meeeting. At this meeting a new committee will be elected. The secretary read a long discourse from the Dominion Executive in regard to the lack of laud being offered for sale for soldiers’ land settlement. Some new legislation was needed. A list of undesirables was also received, fortunately no Woodvillo men’s names appearing. Discussing the ways of raising a fund to maintain the soldiers’ plot at the Woodville cemetery when it is brought into use, the committee agreed to recommend to the annual meeting that a straight appeal bo made to the public. Mr. Keay was afraid the appeal might affect the All-Purpose Patriotic quota which will shortly be asked for from the public. He thought there were too many side issues and the people would get rather tired of continued requests. The sale of poppies for Anzac Day was also discussed and Friday, April 14, was decided upon as opening day for soiling. It was hoped that the public would buy their poppies in their own town, wherever possible. The president thanked all members who paraded at the church on the occasion of the visit of Bishop Gerard.
