Artistic Programme at Girls’ Club Musicale

Delightful entertainment was provided by members of the Palmerston North Girls' Music Club at their annual musicale held in St. Andrew’s hall this week in a programme excellently varied and of the usual artistic merits. A pleasing feature was the appearance of new members whose high attainments should strengthen the club’s ranks and whose further offerings will be awaited with interest. The stage was charmingly decorated with tall jars of rhododendrons and camellias in flame and pink shades, Mrs K. McDonald, Misses L. McDonald and M. Hartley having been responsible, while Messrs R. S. Law' and H. Palmer were stage managers. At the conclusion of the programme the performers and committee were the guests of the president, Miss Evelyn Rawlins, at supper. Following was the programme:—Pianoforte solos, “Nocturne” (Dohles) and “Tarantelle” (Chopin), Mrs J. Gibson; vocal solo, “Love in Spring” (GOunod), Miss N. Robertson; violin solo, “Praeludium and Allegro” (German) and “Sleep Miss B. Bartlett; vocal trio, “Orpheus With His Lute” (German) and “Sleep Little Princess” (Mozart), Misses K. Williams, M. Hocking; cello solo, “Finale, Beethoven’s Sonata, Op. 69, No. 3,” Mrs H. Palmer; pianoforte duo, “Country Gardens” (Grainger), Misses M. Hartley and G.
