R.S.A. Matters

At a meeting of the executive of the Palmerston North Returned Services’ Association at which Mr B. J. Jacobs presided, the important matter of the rehabilitation of young servicemen who went straight to duty from school or before they became established in civil occupations was given consideration, and it was decided to forward recommendations and suggestions to headquarters of the R.S.A. It was resolved that Mr A. W. Mewton, an executive member, be nominated for appointment as the association’s representative on the local Rehabilitation Committee, which is to be set up in the near future. A return of membership was presented showing a total of 527 fully paid members to date. It was also stated that the Ashhurst subbranch had reported an increased membership. Ex-members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. were continuing to Join, and four new' applications for membership dealt with. Fifty ex-members of the 2nd N.Z.E.F. have now joined the local association. The chairman referred to the passing of Messrs H. R. Crawford and J. Lynch, both of whom had been members of the association for many years, and motions expressing sympathy with the relatives were passed. It was unanimously decided to undertake, in the near future, street sales of patriotic stickers. The money collected is to be allocated to the Natioxial Patriotic Funds.
