Armed Forces Appeals

At a sitting of the Armed Forces Appeal Board in Palmerston North yesterday, a large number of appeals were reviewed. Bine die adjournments were granted in the following cases:—J. Brosnan, W. W. The appeals of A. J. McGregor, dairy farmer. Palmerston North was dismissed, reservist not to be called before October 31. The appeal of M. K. Waldin, fat stock drafter, appeal by Abraham and Williams Ltd., was also dismissed, reservist not to be called before January 31. 1943.

There was also a review of & number of appeals lodged on behalf of men working on high tension lines and electrical installations, by tho Public Works Department. Adjournment for three months months was granted in respect of W. A. Third, T. G. S. Triggel. 8. G. Jamieson, R. I. Fraser, G. D. Mercer, I. Booth. R. W. Campbell and C. Pfelferle. Sine die adjournments were granted In respect of A. E. Badham, A. G. Shand, J. D. H. Russell, C. W, Rodgers, L. Benjamin, G. H. Thompson, C W. Saggers and H. E. Evans.

Members of the Board were Messrs E. H. Young (chairman), T. R. Lees and T. H. B. Evens. Crown representative was Mr C. H. Clinkard.

At the Gisborne competitions John McMillan, a pupil of Miss June Scou s, competed in the Highland dancing section and won the junior championship cup. gaining first in Highland Fling, first in Sailor’s Hornpipe, second In Sword Dance and third In Seauntruibhas. Loma Hepworth, another pupil of Miss Scott's, competed at the Hawera competitions and was successful in gaining a cup given for the winner of the Irish Hornpipe and was also first in the Irish Jig. third in Seauntruibhas and Reel o’ Tulloch, second in character dance, third in operatic and tap.
