No Gumboots or Farmers
"There are very few gumboots in the country and no more will come in." wrote the Dominion secretary of the Farmers’ Union in a letter to the Manawatu provincial executive yesterday, replying to representations that steps should be taken to secure gumboot supplies for the fanning community. A letter from tho Ministry of Supply stated that a plan was being considered so that existing supplies could be distributed as fairly as possible among industrialists engaged in wet work, which, of course, included the farming community.
Members reported that they were still unable to procure gumboots, and it was decided to ask the Dominion secretary to continue to press for supplies to be made available.
