Heavy Russian Air Attack on Berlin

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 80. The Moscow radio announced to-day that last night a group of £ov.et plants raided Benin, Koenigsberg, Danzig, Stettin, and other towns in Central anu isastern Germany. »
In Berlin 48 fires, including 17 large ones, and nine explosions were caused. At Koenigsberg, mere wei'e zy fires auu six explosions, at Danzig there were eight fires and four expios.uns, at fcJtettm there were six fires and two explosions All- the Soviet p.anes returned safety. The Berlin radio, in admitting tne Russian i*aids on Germany last nignt, says that explosives and incendiaries were dropped over a wide area, causing slight damage. Some raiaers reached the Great Berlin area, but the anti-aircraft defences forced them up to a great height. They dropped omy single explosives and incendiaries at random in the outer districts. Damage to Berlin was slight.
