Sgt. A. C. Hulme, V.C., itf staying in Palmerston North for th« week-end as the guest of his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bennett. Well known in the coastal shipping trade of New Zealand, Captain W. H. Sawyers celebrated his 90th birthday at Wanganui on Friday. Mr. R. W. Atmore, who has been on the staffs of the Marton Junction and Marton District High Schools for the the last three years, has been transferred to Foxton. Advice that his son, Pte. R. H. Sandford, who was wounded overseas last July, had been discharged from hospital has been received by Mr. H. Sandford, Palmerston North, from the Minister of Defence.
