Brigade Headquarters Staff Ball is Jelly Function
The A.N.A. Ballroom was the venue of many dancing enthusiasts on Friday last when a ball happily arranged by a brigade headquarters staff provided one of the brightest social functions of the winter season. An enthusiastic committee comprising Capts. R. Hogg, P. L. Phillips and J. B. Smythe, Lieuts. E. Wilson, N. Hannah and Cpl. Bagley j worked indefatigably to ensure the enjoyment of the guests, Capts. Hogg and Smythe, as masters of ceremony, keeping tho programme moving with a swing. The grand march staged during the evening was entered into with real zest. A professional orchestra provided the latest dance numbers and there was the added attraction of music contributed by the dance orchestra from an R.N.Z.A.F. Statiou. The most and hostess offering a gracious welcome were Brigadier and Mrs. G. S. Peren, the latter wearing a rainbow striped jacket with full black taffeta skirt. Among the guests of honour were the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. ‘A. E. Mansford, Major-General N. Weir, Colonel, and Mts. J. H. Whyte, Colonel A. Teiinent, Colonel and Mrs. C. Pratt, Colonels Phillips, Murray and Beard, Colonel and Mrs. A. W. Hudson, Colonel and Mrs. J. Mewett, Wing-Com-mander Fraser, Majors J. G. Nolan and Adams, Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Jacobs, Inspector and Mrs. H. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. E. Bary, Misses C. Warburton (W.W.S.A.) D. Haggitt and R. Gillies (A.N.A. Dance Committee). Savoury supper was served and lending a hand in this department were the following A.N.A. Club girls: Misses M. Henry, D.
Scott, J. Reed and M. Whyte, also Mrs. Moulds.
