ANNUAL MEETING OF ST. ANDREW’S CONGREGATION. “For the eighth year in succession we aro happy to be able to say again that this year has been more progressive than ilast year,” said Mr W. B. Tennent (sesIsion clerk) when speaking at the annual meeting of tho congregation of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, X-’aimerston North, on Wednesday night. After ex- 1 pressing appreciation of the faithful ser- j vice rendered by those who laboured in the various church organisations, Mr Ten* f nent said the war would call for furtner sacrifice, but the Church had a great' mission to fulfil and all must work for its advancement with courage and faith. The I Minister, the Rev. J. Hubbard, presided {over an attendance of between 70 and 8 Moving the adoption of the deacons* court report, Mr R. C. Donald (treasurer) said that a deficiency of £74 in the working expenses account was mainly due to fall in collection plate offerings. The sum ot £3490 had been obtained by golden og* | erings for the centenary fund over the I past 5 years, with, the result that the j church debt was now only £321. The conigregation had contributed for missions during the year £454, while the new church building iund stood at £ISOO. (Tribute to the service, devotion and popularity of the Minister (Rev. Hubbard) and Mrs Hubbard was paid by Mr J. C. I) Young. Elected to the deacons’ court were ■ Messrs H. Boshier, W. Brown, R. W. Browning, L. Floyd, H. McKenzie, J. ' Hill-Motion, F. G. Opie, J. Sargent and a. F. Prosser. At the conclusion of forma business Mrs Wilfred Andrews, of Wellington, sang several solos, accompanies by Mrs J. Emmett. Mrs Dymock contributed elocutionary items.
