Boarders in State Houses
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 27. The New Zoaland R.R.A. recently made representations to tho State Advances Corporation in regard to granting permisison to tenants in Btate houses under certain circumstances to keep boarders or share the house with friends. The association suggested, in particular, that tenancy agreements might be revised to allow the wives of men absent on service to take in boarders to supplement their incomes. The association has been advised that, as a wartime concession, such permission may be granted by the corporation. This does not mean that the clause in the tenancy agreement prohibiting subletting or keeping boarders is relaxed, but that, in certain eases, the corporation is prepared to consider applications on their merits. Charge of Theft In the Palmerston North Magistrate's Court yesterday before Mr. H. P. Lawry, R.M., James Leslie Grant, labourer, &s?ed 23, of no fixed abode, was charged with breaking and entering by day the dwelling house of A. E. Kllmister, 363 Rangitikel Street, and stealing two gold rings, a wardrobe key. and £2CB 3s 2d, nf a total value of £271 4s Bd, the property of Olive Emily Thompson. On the application of Detective Long accused was remanded to appear on Wednesday next. It was stated that further inquiries were to l)o made, and it was anticipated that another man would stand Jointly charged with accused. Bail was not sought
