Plunket Shield Final

AUCKLAND’S HARD FIOHT Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Jan. 6. With the strong Canterbury side dismissed for 227 runs, Auckland seemed in a position to secure a first innings lead in the deciding Plunket Shield game which was commenced at Eden Park to-day in fine weather. However, the start of the home side’s innings provided a sensation, when Whitelaw and Sale were back in the pavilion with only nine runs on the board. Auckland had to fight hard to raise 50 for the loss of two wickets when stumps were drawn. Cleverley finished with the best bowling figures, taking five for 67.
