Fatal Accident on Trawler

HOLIDAY VISITOR’S DEATH Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Jan. 5. Injuries received from being entangled in a winch on the trawler Celiua fishing in Hawke’s Bay to-day resulted in the death of Mr. J. Senior, aged 60, of Christchurch. Mr. Senior, who was visiting Napier, was a passenger on the launch. The accident was not witnessed by anyone and it is not known how Mr. Senior became entangled. The winch was stopped immediately it was found a mishap had occurred, and when the man was released he said he was feeling all right. Shortly afterwards he collapsed and died. A six-year-old boy, Barry John Sturney, of Clive, near Napier, was seriously injured late this afternoon when knocked down by a truck on the main road. He was immediately taken to hospital, where an examination revealed he was suffering a broken thigh, abrasions, scalp wounds and slight concussion.
