The Camp Site A Popular Resort
MANY TOURING PARTIES Since the advent of the Christmas and New Year holidays the camp site at the. Esplanade has been a popular resting place for many holiday-makers. The camp has been well patronised this season and the number using it compares more than favourably with last year’s. It is stated that visitors to the camp aro more constant than a year ago. From December 23 to January 2 a total of 30S campers availed themselves of the excellent facilities offered. Many of the travellers have spoken well of the site and of the courtesy of the caretaker, Mr. White, some who visited it previously being impressed by the improvements in the interval. One visitor stated that it was the cleanest camp site ho had seen in the North Island, and he had stayed at a largo number. The site will carry four times the largest number of campers present at any one time during the holidays if the occasion arises. The number of campers present each day in the period mentioned were;— December 23, 20; 24, 37, 25, 20; 26, 33; 27, 37; 28, 37; 29, 24; 30, 22; 31, 24; January I, 83, 2, 21.
