Prussian Mentality
I A world afflicted ir* 80 years with five wars, made in. Germany, must wonder what is wrong with the German—or, to be more precise, the Prussian—mentality. The answer seems simple, says the Daily Telegraph. It is lack of 5 humour. A humourless race is a fanatical race; hence the coloured shirts, the goose-step and the mass hysteria in which the anthropologist sees a throwback to savage rites round tribal fires. No man with humour, which is basically only a sense of proportion, could possibly confess to the half-pathological egotism of a Hitler. He could not talk, even for home consumption, of Overmen appointed "by a German God to rule neighbours who should be happy to kiss the yoke. ■
