January Issue of The Australian Journal
PRAISE FROM LEGISLATOR It is not often that a magazine receives favorable comment in the august halls of the Commonwealth legislature. This unusual honour recently fell to “The Australian Journal,” when Senator Cameron, addressing the Upper House on the subject of the Australian author, mentioned it as one of the few periodicals which gave the Australian writer a fair chance. The January issue, now at hand, presents an unusually long and varied contents list, with no fewer than sixteen complete stories. Of particular interest to women is “I Am a Nurse,” a semilietion feature describing the experiences of a probationer in a big public hospital, while in “Tho Last Dance/’ a mystery story of an unusual type, the Journal has struck another winning serial. There aro several humorous yarns, making the issue particularly suitable for the holiday seacon. Many readers have been reading this popular magazine for upwards of a quarter of a century. If you want to know why, you can buy a copy for sixpence.
