DANNEVIBKE DEFEAT BUSH BT AN INNINGS AND 27 BUNS Oa Monday the Busk representative crieket team was defeated by Dannevirke by an innings and 27 runs. This match should give the selection committee something to work on for the Picard Shield game to be played on January 13, and with such big scorers as J. Sandman, McKay, Tredray and Fredrickson in the team, the chances of a win for Bush will be much brighter. Bobinson and Leith did well as the opening pair in the first innings. None of the other batsmen looked like making runs with the exception of H. Bankin, a newcomer to the team. This colt played some very sound cricket and with a little more experience should develop into a sound batsman. In the second innings Bobinson (15) and Keene (21) did well. Like the batting, the fielding was generally of a poor standard. Leith, at cover point, saved many runs, but Payne, Signal and Francois let many go. The slip fielding was poor and at least three chances went begging. The placing of the field could have been improved on—it should not be accessary for one fieldsman to cover another. Keeno did some good work behind the wickets. Bowling honours wetn to Francois, who took five for 27, but the brunt ol the attack was borne by Montgomery, who finished with three for 31, but was unlucky to have several chances missed from his bowling. Payne, one for 20, sent down one or two good balls but was erratic. Dungau bowled without any sting and like •'Signal could not strike a length. Both these bowlers were a little expensive.
