EIGHT U.S. SHIPS SOLD TO NORWAY
WASHINGTON. Dec. 13. The Maritime Commission has approved the application by the United States Lines Company to sell eight ships to the North Atlantic Transport Company, a Norwegian corporation. The ships will operate between New York, London and Liverpool, The sale includes the American Trader, American Banker, American Farmer, American Importer, American Merchant, American Shipper (all of which are of 7430 tons and were built in 1920), the American Traveller, of 7555 tons, which was also built in 1920, and the President Harding, of 13,869 tons, built In 1921. Norwegians hold 60 per cent, of the stock in the United States Lines and 40 per cent, of the stock in the Norwegian concern.
