WILL AMERICA BUILD 80,000-TON SHIPS?
(Received 3, 12.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 2. After being sworn in as Secretary of the Navy, Mr Edison said he was studying means of accelerating warship construction and was also assembling data as to the feasibility of constructing battleships up to 80,000 tons. It was too earl}' to reach a conclusion.
