Christmas Wedding at All Saints’ Church

PEDERSEN—POWELL A wedding of wide district interest was solemnised at All Saints* Church, Palmerston North, on Saturday, December 23, when Una Florence, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Powell, Newbury Line, Bunnythorpc, was married to Cecil Ronald Pedersen, younger son of Mrs. and the late Mr. M. Pedersen, of Buunythorpe. The ceremony was performed by Canon G. Y. Woodward. Escorted by her father, the bride made a charming picture in a slimfitting gown of ivory satin, the shoulder line being gathered to achieve a square effect. Tho back of the gown and the long, close-fitting sleeves wero ornamented with rows of tiny buttons, while the skirt was draped to form a full train over which fell the traditional veil. The bouquet was of Christmas lilies and carnations. Attending the bride was her sister, Miss Leila Powell, who wore a gown of lake blue georgette, gathered across the shoulders and at the high waistline, and finished with flat bows of clover. Tn her hair she woro clover coloured sweetpeas and cyclamen and carried a bouquet of the same flowers. Mr. G. Reynold carried out the duties of best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Jade tearooms, where the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a navy blue edge to edge coat over a floral crepe model frock, navy hat and accessories and sho carried a bouquet of red roses and African daisies. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy blue costume with navy and beige accessories and carried a bouquet to tone. The usual toasts and felicitations were honoured and when Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen left to spend their honeymoon in Wellington the bride was wearing a frock of navy blue sheer with a sunray pleated skirt and embroidered neckline. Her navy turban and accessories all matched and she wore a handsome fur stole, tho gift of the bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. Pedersen will make their future home at Masterton.
