Special Force Private Dies of Injuries
STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 1. A private in the New Zealand Special Force at Burnham, Walter Corrigal Toy, son of Mr. W. W. Toy, of Lyttelton, died on Sunday evening from injuries he received when he was struck by a motorcar about a mile from Rolleston on the Christchurch side. Toy was standing ou tho road holding up his hand to stop a ear travelling from the direction of Christchurch at about 12.30 on Sunday morning w hen he was struck by another car approaching him from behind and travelling toward Christchurch. He suffered serious head injuries and was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where he died about 8 o'clock on Sunday evening.
