NEW YEAR WEEK-END

Weather Should Be Fine OUTDOOR RECREATION WILL BE POPULAR The weather in Woodville yesterday left absolutely nothing to be desired and providing similar conditions prevail over the New Zear week-end outdoor recreation will be popular. As in past years it is anticipated that picnic parties will make for the Gorge Domain where both, sun and shade abound. The waters of the Manawatu should be warmer at the week-end and the swimming facilities near the Bailance bridge will be enjoyed by many. The Coronation baths have also been refilled and if the weather holds they will be taxed to capacity. No tennis matches have been arranged and the competition cricket does not recommence until January 6, but the bowling green should attract many over the week-end. Members of the Woodville Croquet Club will also be taking advantage of their excellent facilities. For those who are fond of dancing, and there are few who are not, the annual dance conducted at the end of each year by the Woodville Foresters’ Lodge will prove a big attraction tonight in the Foresters’ Hall. This function has always drawn record crowds from Dannevirke, Pahiatua, Palmerston North and locally, and to-night will prove no exception, those attending being assured of a bumper evening’s fun.
