FREE OF INTEREST LOAN BY DRAPERY FIRM Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. The Minister of Finance, Hon. W. Nash, has received from Messrs Smith and Caughey Limited, a prominent firm of drapers iu Auckland, a cheque for £IO,OOO, being a loan free of intorcst for the purposes of the war expenses account. In acknowledging this generous assistance, the Minister to-night said he thought he could best repeat tho donor’s expression of intention behind the loan, namely, “that it might add even more to the spirit with which the war will be fought if all those in a position to do so, were to make similar sacrifices in aid of the Old Country which must necessarily bear the heat and burden of the struggle.”
