Kimbolton
From Our Own Correspondent. Valedictory On Saturday night the residents of Kimbolton and district farewelled five ! members of the Special Force, Alessrs. P. Keith, D. Hocking, H. Pretious, R. r Tlievenard and B. Edmundson. A large gathering of friends and relatives was present to wish them God speed and a , safe return. Pianoforte solos wne given by Aliss B. Fleury, vocal sclcs by Air. P. Keith, while Alessrs. P. Keith, R. Tlievenard and B. Edmundson sang some of their cavalry songs. Alusic for the dances was supplied by Aliss B. Fleury, Alessrs. Al. Cameron, J. Hansen, B. Prince and B. Edmundson. Rev. Mr. Fleury made the presentation of razors to the soldiers on behalf of the settlors. Alusicai honours were accorded them, .after which Peter Keith replied on behalf of the recipients. Three cheers were called for the 14 visiting soldiers who wore present. Thanks were extended to the sponsors of the function. Supper was served by the ladies. Personal The friends of Aliss Drcwitt will regret to learn that she has had to enter hospital to undergo treatment. All will wish her a speedy recovery. Visitors from Wellington to the district are Air. and Airs. 11. Wall .and family, Air. and Airs. Al. Wall, and Air. and Mrs. Skinner, all of whom are spending the Christmas vacation camping at London \s Ford. Aliss B. Barry is holidaying in Wellington. M.U.1.0.0.F. Bro. H. A. Pretious, N.G., presided over a large attendance of members and visitors at the meeting of Odd Fellows, when Bro. Rose, D.G.AI. of the Loyal Raotihi Lodge, paid an official visit to Kimbolton. Visitors were also present ' from Loyal Manchester and Apiti : Lodges. The N.G. extended a welcomo ' to the visitors, who were accorded lodge i honours. Bros. Rose, Pask and AlcKay ( replied on behalf of their respective lodges. Bro. W. Alason, I\G., pre* sented Bro. H. 8. Pretious, who was ou final leave from Ngaruawahia training camp, with an eversharp pencil from 1 the members of the lodge. Musical ' honours were accorded Bro. Pretious, who thanked the members for their ( gift and good wisher* Bro. Alason s tendered his resignation from the office j of Lecture Alaster, this being received with regret. The nomination of an officer to fill this position was held over £ till next meeting. It was decided to c confer the P.G. degree upon Bro. S. i Lewis, 1.P.N.G., who, like Bro. Mason, t is shortly leaving the district. Bro. t Lewis thanked the members for this t privilege. Reports were given on visits Lo Loyal Alanawatu and Alarton Lodges. i
