Final Gallops for Hastings Races

NORA GREGOR WELL TRACKS IN GOOD ORDER From Our Own Correspondent. HASTINGS, Dec. 28. The Hastings tracks were in good order this morning for the final gallops for the Hawke’s Bay meeting. All the fast work was done on the inside grass. Hunter’s Eve (B. Stowe) was the' first stripped for actiqn, and she sprinted three furlongs brilliantly in 36secs. She may race at Hastings on Monday. Classical (B. Stowe) was not allowed her head when taking 40secs for three furlongs. Lady Garvagh (Murray), who makes her initial appearance on Saturday, came home the last two furlongs of her work in 26^secs. Nora Gregor (J. Campbell), in running five furlongs in 68secs, was responsible for the fastest gallop of the morning. However, she appeared to be doing her best. In running three furlongs alone in 36Jsecs, Inheritance, for a maiden, did welL Yogi (Parramore), Kalika (G. Stowe),, and Kobi (Campbell), were at length intervals in the order named at, the end of once round in 1.47, the last six furlongs in 1.19, and the three in 40secs.< All were going comfortably without being extended. Lady Chat (Stevens) was restricted', to a working gallop to record 1.35 for seven furlongs, the first three in 40}secs. She is none the worse for Tuesday’s race. Sternchase (J. Forsyth) was another: that worked pleasingly to register 63} secs for five furlongs. Maybe he could J have done a little better if pushed. Black Out (Campbell), under a slight j restraint, sprinted two furlongs in 25' secs, 1 Desert Princess (G. Stowe) and Trac-; tive (B. Stowe), were not extended to run three furlongs 40secs. Okawa (Marsh) and Hunting Mo-I ments (Galvin) were associated in aj once-round trial, which occupied 1.45,j the last six furlongs taking 1.18, with! Hunting Moments just shading her op-1 ponent at the finish. In all probability Okawa will tackle the New Year Handicap on Saturday in preference to the sprint. , * Oxyopia (Power) ran the last live furlongs of his work in 67secs, doing it comfortably. Dainty Sheila (Stevens) was restricted to a working gallop, the last three furlongs of which occupied 42}secs. Silver Bat (B. Stowe) was going very comfortably -when finishing alongside Golden Melody (J. Forsyth), at the end of five furlongs in 65secs, the last three in 40secs. Silver Bat did not start on Boxing Day, she being sore. However, on the way she worked this morning there does not seem to be much the matter with her. Royal Spades (Campbell) and Royal Star II (Baker) were companions over six furlongs, registering 1.17}, the first three in 39secs. The latter left to-day for Tauherenikau. Mimicry (Baker) recorded a fairly fast six furlongs, to run I.lß}, the first three taking 37}secs. Black Majesty (Forsyth) was going slightly easier than Dainty Dell (R. Marsh) over half a mile in Slsecs. However, Black Majesty got the best of the Jump away. Morning Flight (Marsh) and Dozie Boy (Forsyth) were associated In a strong working gallop over three-quar-ters of a mile In 1.19.
