Tho stewards held an inquiry into alleged interference by Queen City involving Cillas and Happicoat in the Criterion Handicap, but found the incident to bo accidental. ASHHT7RST-POHANGINA MEETING ENTRIES DUE ON JANUARY 6 Nominations for the Ashhurst-Po-hangina meeting on Anniversary Day (January 22) close with the secretary (Mr. J. A. McDonell) at 9 p.m. on Friday, January 5. The stakes to bo offered total £ISOO and the programme is well balanced with tho Ashhurst Cup £320, Hack Cup £225, open six and seven furlongs of £2OO and £175 respectively, hack hurdles £l5O, hack six and five furlongs of £l5O each, and Maiden £l3O. In addition the dub pays rail freight (or equivalent in float charges) one way, on horses from Taranaki, Wanganui, Wellington, Wairarapa and ITawko’e Bay. The meeting again coincides with the third day at Wellington, enabling horses racing there on tho first two days to return to Ashhurst for Anniversary Day. REHANDICAPS FOR HASTINGS The following rehandicaps have been made by Mr. H.
