R.A.F. Planes Attack Garman PatrolVessels
(British Official Wireless) (Received 27, 12.45 p.m.) RUGBY, Dec. 26. The Air Ministry announces: Throughout yesterday, although it was Christmas Day, the Royal Air Force continued with unrelaxed vigilance ;heir patrols covering our fishing fleets !n the North Sea. “Certain of our aircraft observed German patrol vessels in the eastern area of the North Sea. These vessels opened fire on our aircraft, which took retaliatory bombing action. Hits were not observed, and no damage was done to our aircraft.” The German High Command states that machine-guns repulsed a British warplane attack on German patrol boats in the Heligoland Bight.
