Meals in Commons

FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES LONDON, Dec. 1. Because of the falling off in the number of meals served in tho House of Commons, due to war-time conditions, the Kitchen Committee is facing serious financial difficulties. Appeals have been made to the Chancellor of tho Exchequer that the Treasury should be responsible for tho financial side of Parliamentary catering for tho duration of the war. So far Sir John Simon has refused, but he has agreed to make a grant of £2500 to cover the period up to the end of March. Prices charged to members will be increased as costs increase, as in any restaurant. There will, however, be no Spectacular rise in the price of meals.
