Relining a Coat
The problem of relining a coat is quite simply solved by anyone who is able to sew, if tho following instructions are adhered to: — Rip out the old lining, press it, and use it as a pattern for the now lining. Stitch and press the underarm seams of the new lining, but do not stitch the shoulder seams. Place coat to be rolined, wrong side up, on a table, smooth it out and place the new lining in position upon it. Begin to baste at the nearest armhole and baste tho new lining around each armhole up to the unclosed shoulder scams. Next baste the underarm seam of the lining to the undorarm seam of the coat, easing the lining on without stretching it. Stop about four inches from bottom of coat, and baste across the back from underarm seam to underarm seam, keeping the lining about four inches from the bottom of the coat. The shoulder seams are closed by sewing the back lining neatly over the front lining directly over the coat shoulder seam. To line the sleeves turn them inside out, draw tho new sleeve lining into position, and baste it four inches from cuff, and four inches from top. Turn edges of lining in around tho armhole, and sew it, and then turn up lining at cuff, and sew it to the cloth of coat sleeve, when the lining process will be completed.
