Entertainment at Awapuni Home

On Thursday evening a most enjoyable entertainment was provided at the Awapuni Home by a large party conducted by Mrs. David Watson and Mr. G. Houston who acted as Father Christmas for the function. On arrival at the home, Mrs. Watson, together with Mrs. M. Aitcliisou, were presented with beautiful bouquets. Mrs. Watson later presented gifts from a largo Christmas tree to the inmates of the Home. Following the singing ot a Christmas carol items were presented by members of the party as follow: —Mrs. Prince, pianoaceordeon solo; Mr. Lawson and Miss Prince, tap dance; Miss Doherty, songs; Miss Thorburn, songs; Mr. Pierard, songs; Mr. J. Williamson, songs; Mrs. Whitehouse and Mr. J. Brown, vocal duet; recitation, Miss Freda Whittaker; tap dance, Tucker children. A cinematographic film depicting tho Esplanade when tho cherries were in bloom was shown by Mr. J. E. Mewett. Father Christmas, accompanied by Mrs. Watson, later made a tour of the wards and presented each bed patient with a small gift. Iced cakes were also given by Mrs. Watson to the nursing staff and inmates. Thanks on behalf of tho Homo were extended by Mr. H. J. Canton for the enjoyable evening to all the members of the party.
