Petrol Up Another Halfpenny

INCREASE TAKES EFFECT TO-DAY Ter Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 21. As from to-morrow morning motor spirit throughout New Zealand will cost an extra halfpenny a gallon. This announcement was mode to-night by a representative of the oil companies. It was stated that full details of the companies’ increased costs had been submitted to the Department of Industries and Commerce, who approved of the increase. The requisite amending regulations were Gazetted to-night and take effect immediately. The increase is stated to be entirely the result of higher f.o.b. costs, freight and war risk insurance. The Wellington retail price for super-grade petrol will now he 2s 5.1 d per gallon and for standard grade 2s 4Jd.
