Funds for New Pavilion on Kowhai Park

CRICKETERS BUSY COLLECTING There appears to be some misunderstanding as to the part cricketers are playing in the raising of funds for the new pavilion on Ivowhai Park at Feilding. The erection of this new pavilion was accepted as Feilding’s Centennial memorial and the issue from being a purely cricketers’ concern then became a matter for public interest. The cricketers originally set themselves out to raise £250 as their contribution towards the cost of the pavilion, the Borough Council having earmarked a like sum as its contribution. It had accorded like help to the footballers for the pavilion on Johnston Park and for the pavilion for hockey interests on Victoria Park. The question of raising funds for the Centennial pavilion was discussed at Wednesday evening’s meeting of the local Cricket Association when it was reported that the objective of the. association, namely, the raising of £250, was now assured. The latest donation was a sum of £2B from the High School team which represented the proceeds of a concert recently held at the High School. All clubs, it was reported, were still active in the matter of procuring further funds.
