CHRISTMAS EUCHRE TOURNEY
Large Attendance at Annual R.S.A. Function MR. AND MRS. R. L. JAMES’ SERVICES RECOGNISED The annual Christmas euchre tournament conducted by the Woodville Returned Soldiers’ Association took place in the R.S.A. club rooms on Wednesday evening. There was an attendance of 67 flayers and competition was keen throughout. The ham was won by Mrs. J. Hanaray and Mrs. Reid and Mrs. Birchall won the Christmas cakes. In the cake competition Mrs. Kappely and Mrs. Charles were the winners. Prior to the commencement of the tournament, Mr. G. Wickes, president of the association, paid tribute to the work of Br. and Mrs. A. E. James in organising the euchre tournaments during the year. He also eulogised Mr. James’ outstanding efforts as caretaker, to improve the club's facilities, pointing out that his work in this connection had been of great value. Mr. Wickes then called upon the secretary, Mr. F. D. Mackie, to make presentations to both Mr. and Mrs. James for their excellent services, the recipients, who were accorded musical honours, suitably replying.
