Italians Amazed
AT BRITAIN’S VAST ARMAMENT EXPENDITURE United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copy rlgh t. Received Thursday, 12.55 a.m. ROME, Feb. 17. Italians are impressed with Britain’s determination to repair armament deficiencies and are amazed at the vast expenditure. Some critics declare that Britain and France are now leading the armaments race to heights poorer countries will bo unable to follow without intolerably burdening citizens. Italy’s response is expected on March 1 when the Fascist Grand Council meets to examine the entire military situation in relation to its requirements. DETAILS OF NAVAL EXPANSION Received Thursday, 1 a.m. LONDON, Feb. 17. The actual expansion of the British Navy under the new proposals will be three capital ships in addition to the two laid down last year, seven cruisers in addition to the seven being laid down during the current year. The full expansion of the fleet airarm to 450 machines will be held up till the carriers are completed.
