(From Our Own Correspondent) Defence Rifle Club. Tho weekly practice shoot at Bulls took place under showery weather conditions. Borne good shooting was registered, with H. Meads on top with 103, and K. W. Dalrymple and J£. Lumsdeu put on possibles at the 500 yards range. The shooting on the whole was good. Following are the scores over 300, 600 and 000 yards:— M. Mr and Mrs A. Fcle returned to Bulls on Saturday after spending ar enjoyable holiday in the South island Mr Bde resumed his duties oa Monday -ast. Mr and Mia John Dwyer, of * Mike Mike,’’ are spending the remainder of the school vacation with Mr and Mrs Dwyer, of .Bridge, street. Tho local runner. Henry Haycock, was successful at the recent Ohingaiti sports meeting. Ho won the mile event and was third in tho half-mile. The township \vas very Duty on Monday last, .no tor-cars parking thick y in all parts of tho streets. Au extra large entry of stock at the sales and tho naifyearly Kotahitanga Group meeting of the Women’s Institute, which took place during the afternoon, 'no doubt were responsible for the overflow.
The Bank of New Zealand, which stood on the corner of Bridge and High streets has been removeed, and the contractors are now laying the foundation for the new structure which is to be in concrete and to be completed in about four months.
