(From Our Own Correspondent) The Utuwai Institute held its fourth birthday party at tho beginning of the • month. The tables were prettily deeflrai ted in shades of mauve and pink, tho hostesses being Mesdames Adlington, Batchelor, Wingate and A. Roberts. The ' guests of the afternoon were Mrs E. Jfl. i Short and Miss M. Grant. Miss Grant 1 vividly depicted many of her experiences at the conference held in Washington, ‘ thus entertaining the members lor a time which passed all too quickly. A beautifully iced cake held pride of place on the afternoon-tea table. During this sojourn congratulations wero received from the • Dominion Federation, Aokautere, Cheltenham, Apiti, and from absent members. 1 Miss Grant presented the points prizes for the year as follows: Seniors, Mrs. llarkness 1, Mrs A. Roberts 2; junior, 1 Miss M. Foot 1, Miss O. Hammings 2. Miss Grant, Airs Short and Airs McKenzie, the president, tyero presented with posies by Misses O. Hammings, Af. Cheyne and '< M. Foot. Those winning competitions on the day wero Airs Darkness, Mrs McKenzie, Miss Foot and AliSs Hemmlngs. It i was decided to donate £1 Is to the hall ■ funds. Tho programme for the next meeting, which will be held on February 24, will include the annual election ot : ! committee. Umutoi will supply the «61 cial half hour if necessary and hostesses will bo Mrs Billet, Airs Cheyne and Alisa M. Cheyne.
