Croquet Match for Mills Shield

OROUA DEFEATS TERRACE END. Terraco End Croquet Club members spent a most enjoyable day on the Oroua lawns on Tuesday, February 16, when a match was played to retain the Mills Shield, Terrace End having won it last season. They met defeat at the hands of the Oroua team, Oroua being one point up in the last match in December. Results were as follows, Oroua players mentioned first:— Mesdames Petrie (1) and Alsop (7s) 25 v. Mesdames Gambriel (—1) and Jamieson (7i) 26; Mesdames Price (4) and Bowater (5) 26 v. Mesdames Davidson (4) and Parks (4s) 16; Mesdames Aitken (3) and Hicks (34) 26 v. Mesdames Scroggs (2i) and Anderson (4) 19; Mesdames Mason (5) and Durrant (SJ) 24 v. Mesdames Anderson (4) and Torstorson (41) 26. Total: Oroua 101; Terraco End, 87. Bennett Buttons. A Bennett Buttons match was played at Manawatu greens on Monday when Mesdames Gould and King (holders) were defeated by Mesdames knelling and Leeson, 15 —26. Pollock Stars. In a Pollock Stars match at Northern yesterday, Mesdames Simpson and Langford (holders) beat Mesdames Radford and Simmons, 26 —23.
