The usual fortnightly meeting of Court Rising Sun was held in the Foresters' Hall, Burns street, on Monday evening, when the C.R., Bro. J. B. Register, presided over a fair attendance. Tho woodwards and secretary reported on the condition of members on the sick list, and the Dccessary sick pay was passed. An invitation for the court to attend .the anniversary function of Court Woodville, to be held on March 3rd, was accepted. Members wishing to make the trip are asked to hand in their names to the secretary at next lodge meeting. P.C.R. Bro. Fletcher reported having represented tho court at a social evening given by Lodgo Kia Ora, 1.0.0. F., which had proved most enjoyable. Tho secretary reported that the re-laying of tho hall floor would be put in hand immediately, a tender submitted having been accepted, and it was hoped to complete the work with no inconvenience to any of the hall lessees. One candidate was proposed for membership and the initiation ceremony will take place next court night. After the conclusion of business, a very pleasant hour was spent in bowls. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs J. Omundsen and daughters have returned to Tikitiki, Gisborne, after visiting the district. Constable J. Colbourne, who has been on relieving duty at Waipukurau for six weeks, has returned to Dannevirke. Mr R. W. Orr, of Ashburton, who has been visiting Mr and Mrs R. J. Callan, has left for Wellington on his return south. Mr and Mrs A. E. Blackford have returned from a short visit to Auckland, where they went to bid good-bye t<3 their son, a member of the crew of H.M.S. Dunedin, which sailed for England. Miss A. Tyerman, of Napier, who has been staying with her sister, Airs H. T. Russell, left by train for Auckland, on her way to Sydney, sailing from there this month for Loudon, where she expects to remain for some time. Messrs M. G. C. McCaul and A. O. Heaney, president and secretary respectively of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, who have been on an official visit to Dannevirke, yesterday went on to Hastings and Napier by car, in continuation of their North Island tour. HEALTH STAMPS. The health stamp campaign in Dannovirke this year realised £144 Is 3d, as compared with £llß 5s 4d last year an increase of £25 15s lid. The total does not include donations received, which have not yet been finalised.

Record Rate Collection. “A splendid response,” This was the comment made by the Hastings borough rate clerk when reporting upon the rate collection for the now current year. The total amount collected of this year’s rate works out at 95.2 per cent-, which is believed to be a record for Hastings.
