Man and Wife Injured
While Asleep in Bed MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES BAFFLE POLICE. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. A mysterious affair occurred early this morning at the residence of Mr A. R. Dawson, at Myross bush. Dawson and his wife, who were in bed, were suddenly awakened by a severo blow and found they had both been injured on the left side of the forehead. The police were called about 2.10 this morning but no evidence has been found as to the origin of the injuries. The husband and wife were X-rayed but the result has not yet been made known. Dawson has three stitches on his forehead and his wife has a cut on the side of the head. The house is within fifty yards of the hangars at the Southland Aero Club's aerodrome. The doors were shut last night but were not locked. A son and daughter were sleeping in the house at the time but they neard nothing to arouse their suspicions. This is not surprising in view of the fact that a strong south-west wind was blowing at the time. No trace of anyone having entered the house was found nor was there sign of tho weapon used.
