January Wedding at All Saints’ Church

TOYE—SCOTT. At All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, on January 23, a wedding attracting wide interest was celebrated when Christina Mary, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Scott, of Palmerston North, was married to Kenneth James, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Toye, of Foxton. Rev. Canon G. Y. Woodward officiated, and Mr. Drake presided at the organ. Escorted by her father, the bride looked dainty in a trained frock of ivory satin, the neckline being held with two pieces of orange blossom. The long fitting sleeves were pointed over the hands, and finished with tiny buttons to match the row of buttons down the front of the skirt. Her veil (kindly lent by a friend) was held in place with orange blossom on each side of the head, and she carried a sheath bouquet of lilium auratum and gladioli. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Jean Scott, sister of the bride. She wore a frock of pink georgette with a pink spray at the neckline and buttons on the back of the frock down to the waist. Godets were inset in the skirt. She wore long white kid gloves and carried a sheath bouquet of gladioli to tone with her frock. Mr. J. Elliott, of Palmerston North, carried out the duties of best man, and Mr. G. Scott acted as usher. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Dustin’s Lounge, the usual toasts being honoured. Mrs. Scott received the guests wearing a navy ensemble with hat and shoes to tone, and carrying a posy of gladioli in autumn shades. The bridegroom’s mother, who assisted her, had chosen a figured navy frock with navy hat, coat, and shoes, and a posy of cornflowers and delphiniums. "When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon tour, the bride wore a smart frock of navy blue, a navy tailored coat, navy hat and accessories to tone. Their future home will be in Palmerston North.
