Little Progress With Eketahuna ’Drome

At the last Borough Council meeting a letter was read from the Military Headquarters regarding a landing ground at Eketahuna. It stated that provided a suitable area for development can be located and a satisfactory tenuro arranged, tlio Public Works Department will carry out the development on a similar basis to that employ ed at the Hood Aerodrome, Masterton On receipt of the preliminary report ol tko Eketahuna sub-committee, the aerodrome engineer would arrange an inspection of the proposed sites with 4 view to selecting and developing the most suitable.

The Wairarapa Aero Club also wroto giving further particulars of ground requirements. The sub-committee appointed at the last meeting of the council considered the most suitable site was on Mr. Buick’s property at Rongokokako, about a mile from the borough boundary.

The council decided that it was quite in accord with the project, but it did not see its way to commit itself to provide the site at considerable cost and there was no suitable ground that the borough held as an endowment that could be devoted to the purpose.
