A small sports car just concluding a fortnight’s tour of the North Island was wrecked by fire at the top of Paekakariki Hill yesterday when changing to lower gear. The owner, Stan Little, saw flames burst forth from the engino and backfire from the carburettor and tank, both taking fire. The occupants of the car were only just able to mal.e a hurried exit and watch its destruction.
