Oroua Lodge of Druids
At the fortnightly meeting of the Oroua Lodge of Druids A.D. Bro. N. Humphries presided over a large attendance of members. D.P. Bro. Drake paid an official visit and was accorded full Druidic honours. Invitations were received from Pahiatua and Makino Lodges to attend their next meetings as the respective D.P’s elect are to be installed. One young man was initiated into the rites of Ancient Druidism aud four were proposed for membership. D.P. Bro. Drake, assisted by P.A. Bro. Ure as M.C., installed P.A. Bro. W. Buchanan into the position of District President for tlio current term. The new P.D. returned thanks to tho members of the district who had confidence in him to vote him to the position and that he would use every endeavour to uphold tho dignity of the position. The first job to fall to the lot of D.P. Bro. Buchanan was the presentation of a Past Arch Diploma to P.A. Bro. R. Chatfield, on behalf of Oroua, for his having recently passed through the chair with credit to himself and the Lodge. The agenda paper for tho next Grand Lodge conference was received and discussed. P.Sec. Bro. Mcwett reported ou the activities of the U.F.S. Dispensary. P.G.P. Bro. Jackson reported on the game of bowls for the Bowls Shield v. the M.U. Lodge, resulting in a win for M.U. Prior to tho closing of Lodge P.G.P. Bro. Jackson gavo a very interesting address on various matters concerning Druidism during fifty or more years. Bro. Jackson exhibited a fine collection of papers, photos and curios that ho has col lected from all parts of tho world. The Lodge accorded the lecturer a very hearty round of applause. Supper was dispensed by the stewards.
