Shortage of Road Contractors

ONLY ONE TENDER FOR OROUA COUNTY JOB. The fact that there is a shortage of contractors for road construction aud soaling works was mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Oroua County Council by tho county engineer (Mr. R. L. Harding). Ho stated that when tenders were invited for the sealing of Makino road only one was received and that was from a firm which had in hand other jobs. It appeared, said Mr. Harding, that all contractors for such work were unusually busy and he doubted whether the council would receive any tenders if it was decided to go on with the work of applying the final coat of bitumen on the sealed section of tho Ila! combe road.
