STAKES AGAIN INCREASED. The Rangitikei Racing Club’s autumn meeting, which will be held at Bulls on Saturday, March 6, presents an attractive x>rogramine of seven events. The principal ure the Rangitikei Cup (open), of £2OO, one mile and a-quarter; and the Bailey Memorial Handicap (open), of £l5O, six furlongs. Tho Handicap Hurdles, of £l2O, one mile and a-lialf; a Trial Plate, oj £BS, six furlongs (for maidens at time of starting), and throe hack fiat races, each worth £IOO, complete the programme. Stakes have been raised from £620 to £855. Since last mooting the course has been improved; new starting posts have been erected, aud many improvements have been effected. The wet Bummer has kept the course proper from getting hard, and the going should bo excellent next month. Nominations for all events close on Monday, February 15, at 8 p.m., with tho secretary, Mr. E. V. Wilson (’phono 65, Bulls), and it is expected that many ' horses racing at To Aroha and Opunako in February, on route to Trentham in March, 'Will break the journey at Bulls, where stabling is free, and accommo- 1 dation reasonable.
