At a meeting of the Feilding Methodist Church trustees on Wednesday a resolution of sympathy with Mr J. W. Bramwell in his illness was carried.
The condition of the sealed portion of the Halcombo highway out of Feilding was referred to by Cr. O. McElroy at yesterday’s meeting of the Oroua County Council. He suggested that the road was ready for the final coat of bitumen as it appeared to be breaking up in places, the tar seeming to have lost its life. The engineer (Mr R. L. Harding) stated that a sum had been included in the estimates for the work but he did not think tho road called for the application of the final dressing yet. The Highways Board was agreablo to the work being done immediately it was considered necessary and he would make an investigation to ascertain whether tho work should bo tackled this
It was reported at last evening’s meeting of the Feilding Borough Council that some of the trees recently planted in Denbigh street had been damaged. Tho position had been investigated and found to be attributable to children. Cr. P. G. Guy said that it should be known that the trees weio the property of the ratepayers and it was the duty of citizens to protect this property. however, were a standing disgrace to any auctioneers catering for farmers,” ho concluded. The council agreed to have notices sent out to ratepayers warning them of their obligations concerning noxious weeds.
