Military Ball
SUCCESS OF COLOURFUL FUNCTION. (Special to "Times.”) WAIPUKURAU, Feb. 11. A colourful scene was presented in tho Municipal Theatre last night when tho Ist Battalion, the Wellington Regiment, now in camp at Waipukurau, held its annual ball which was largely attended by the younger set. Many smart uniforms and pretty frocks were to be seen and a happy time was had by all. The navy-blue trousers and scarlot tunics, complete with white striped wings and glittering golden badges, of tho Regiment Dance Band made a colourful picture in the foreground of an old world scene in Southern Italy depicting an ancient castle, surrounded by trees, in the foreground on the side of a deep blue lake encircled by mountains towering away into the distance.
The Dance Band gave many enjoyable numbers but possibly the most unusual dance number of the evening was that given by the Pipe Band. After the dainty savoury supper had been served a Monte Carlo competition was hold, Air M. Maloney and Miss M. Muir being the winners. Those responsible for tho success of tho function wore:—Captain F. L. ManKenzie, Captain E. T. W. Love, Lieutenant T. Thornton, Lieutenant I. E. Duff, Colour-Sergeant B. Berry, Sergeant J.
